After a couple of posts and a question directed to the Rails-Core mailing list, it finally looks like the core team has explicitly favored one goal of scaffolding over the others. Scaffolding is supposed to be educational!

So last night I submitted the first draft of the final chapter of my book for Apress... There's still a lot of work left to do (especially on that chapter), but I think this is a nice milestone to note.
