NaShoStoWriMo

November 2, 2006 – 8:43 pm

I’ve wanted to do NaNoWriMo (the site’s been majorly lagging since Nov 1st) for a couple of years now, but something always seems to stand in the way. This year is no exception, as I’m busy 3 nights out of the week and have pretty-well-booked weekends for the whole month. Not to be entirely dissuaded, however, I’ve decided to create my own month-long writing event: NaShoStoWriMo. As you might be able to guess, it’s National Short Story Writing Month. Where NaNoWriMo asks people to create a 50,000-word novel in a month, my goal is a little less lofty. I’m going to try to produce a 12,500-word short story before December 1st.

And no, you can’t read it, because it’ll be entirely crap - but that’s sort of the point. NaShoStoWriMo is all about getting something started and finished, just to complete it. It’s about quantity, not quality.

Wish me luck.
