Ah, the beloved three-miler. I was a little concerned about today’s run - since I bailed on Sunday’s (all-day VB tournaments tend to take the urge to exercise right out of me), and since yesterday was a rest day, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get motivated for today. See, I have a history of turning one skipped run into two - which turns into three - which turns into a whole week without running, and … well, you know.
Anyways, I pushed past the concern and got myself out the door this afternoon right on schedule. I walked for a few minutes to loosen up, then started jogging slowly - at which point, I discovered that I did not emerge from Sunday’s tournament unscathed. For the first half mile, every step I took sent a jolt of *something* (not pain exactly, but far from any pleasurable feeling) shooting up my quads. I was a little worried at this point, so I slowed down until it went away.
All was well until the two mile mark, at which point the blisters my volleyball shoes caused on the backs of my heels began reminding me that they were there and they weren’t happy (I’ve got to remember to wear thicker socks next tourney…). I toughed it out, walked my cool-down, and thankfully popped into a shower when I got home.
Subjectively, the run didn’t go that well. In comparison to the other three-milers I’ve run in the past several weeks, however, today was in the top three across the board (pace, average HR, HR recovery time, etc.). I guess my standards are just getting higher - so yay for that.
And now, back to the moving of furniture. We’re getting new windows tomorrow (assuming no rain), so I’ve got to clear an area around each of the nine that’s being replaced - and in a small house, that’s no mean feat.
moving furniture—this is worth at least two workouts!
If only that were the case
I’m all done with the furniture movin’, and my current plan for tomorrow is: four miles first thing in the morning, let the window guys in, go to work, check in on the window guys every couple of hours (yay for close offices), and hope against hope that they can finish it all in a day and that it doesn’t rain.
