USAV time

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

No running lately, but I have been active - I played squash last week (won 4-3), and I’ve just started playing USAV (volleyball) again.

Yesterday was my team’s first tournament, the next-to-last of the fellowships, which are sort of like preseason events. We did ok considering that most of us had never played together before, and I’m thinking we’ll do well one the regular season starts up in December, so yay! The only question is how I’ll work running around the volleyball this winter and spring - but if that’s the worst issue I have over the next few months, I’ll count myself lucky.

Day 7 - Rome

Saturday, November 20th, 2004

On our first full day in Rome, Lacie and I focused on the ruins of ancient Rome. For our second day, we decided to shift forward in the history of the Empire a bit with a trip to the Vatican museums and St. Peter’s. Absence makes the blog grow

Thursday, November 18th, 2004

So I’ve been away from this particular blog for almost a month now…. and I guess it’s evident where part of my time has been spent (well, evident to those not using RSS readers). I’ve started to implement a complete redesign of the culann.com domain - and though it’s not done yet (there’s tons of work left to do on the portfolio, in particular), I felt it was about time I launched what I had on hand.

All in all, I’m happy with it. I’m sure that in a week or so I’ll be sick of these darn animals, though.

Race Report

Monday, November 15th, 2004

OK, I lied - here’s the race report, earlier than tonight. Thanks for the encouragement, everybody!

I woke up at 6am after too little sleep (my wife and I threw an engagement party for two of our friends Saturday night, so I got to sleep a little later than I normally would’ve). After a quick shower to help me wake up, some napping on the couch, and a Zone bar for breakfast, I set out for the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, the site of the Vienna Jaycees 5k Turkey Trot.

Done!

Sunday, November 14th, 2004

Hey everyone… So, I’ve done it - I ran my first race ever at a very chilly 8am this morning (the wind chill was 27° F)!

My full report should be up tomorrow. Happy runnin’, everybody!
