Overambitious?

September 19, 2004 – 2:33 am

Well, I’m back! I’ve got a couple more summaries already done and a bunch more to do, but I’ll try to slip ‘em in with more regular running-type content now. Sorry for the honeymoon diversion :)

Speaking of running - I didn’t get any done over the past two weeks. Between the jet lag, the constant need to see something else, and the tiredness from all that sightseeing at the end of the day, I just never got around to lacing up my shoes and hitting the streets - not in Sorrento, in Rome, or in Siena. Imagine my surprise, then, when I got home yesterday and found I’d lost four pounds. I guess all the walking we did was an adequate substitute for the daily run, ‘cuz I know the loss wasn’t from a dietary cutback. Mmmm, italian food.

Anyways, it’s 0230 and I’m chipper as a bunny after falling asleep at 2000 last night. Darn time changes. Maybe I’ll make a run to the grocery store to replace our depleted pantry while Lacie sleeps….

  2. Welcome back, Ben! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. You’re a much better tourist than me. I went to Greece for 3 weeks and saw ruin after ruin, some beautiful sunsets, and so much more but did I take a single picture? Nope. Did I write in a journal? Nope. Do I even know where my souvenirs are from that trip? Nope. Do I regret my laziness? Heh, not really…. But I’ll make an effort to take a picture or two on my next trip.

And I enjoyed reading your honeymoon posts.

  3. Same here. Interestingly enough, the same thing (weight loss) happened to a friend of mine who honeymooned in Italy some years ago. Walking works…

  4. Welcome home, Ben. I hope you missed the tornadoes up your way as you flew into DC.

  5. Thanks, everybody! We did miss the tornadoes; we flew in Saturday afternoon, so all we got were some lovely wind gusts around the airport.

Can’t wait to get back on the roads - tomorrow’s the big day!

(oh, and Rebecca - more honeymoon posts’ll be up soon :)
