Four miles this morning - still no ankle worries, so yay! Plus, I just started a new audiobook this morning (finished the last during Wednesday’s run), so it was a doubly-fun morning. Even the 97% humidity couldn’t keep me down, since it wasn’t actually raining.
Looking at the forecast for the rest of the day, though, it appears that the remainder of my planned physical activity may just be cancelled. We’re having a departmental meeting at work this morning, and afterwards we’re supposed to be playing volleyball in a nearby park. The forecast, however, is showing Scattered Thunderstorms from 10 AM until 6 PM, at which point they stop being scattered…. Darn.
(That was a sarcastic darn. For those of you who only know me as a novice - and therefore humble - runner, I’m a fairly snobby volleyball player. I don’t particularly like playing what we often refer to as “picnic ball”)
Good run in the humidity. I never thought of listening to audio books while I run. Maybe I’ll try that once back in VA this weekend. I’ll need a distraction from the weather:)
Hmm…I’ve never thought about the audio book idea either. Maybe that would work when my classes begin in the fall. Last spring, during finals week, I would bring flash cards with me and attempt to study and run at the same time–which ended up not being a great idea, (let’s just say….if you’re reading a note card, you can’t see a large tree stump on the path in front of you).
Yep, audiobooks rock. Music was never distracting enough for me (especially when I first started running and all I could think about was how much my knee hurt, my feet hurt, etc.) - but having to follow the plot of a novel or the argument of a work of nonfiction keeps me at the right level of removal from the run. Since I run by myself, the books kind of act like a substitute partner (and one who generally won’t distract you so much you hit large obstacles… Hope you were OK, April-Anne!)
