At last, an error page!

So I’ve finally done it - I’ve finally taken the time to go and slap together a custom error page for the site.

Why now, you may ask? Essentially, I was motivated to get off my butt now for two reasons. Firstly (and more importantly), I firmly believe that every site needs at least a minimally customized error page (and mine is the very definition of minimally customized) just to show the users that someone’s out there - that the site they’re trying to use wasn’t just thrown onto the web without a care for potential pitfalls. Secondly, I’ve recently had to limit access to some of the resources on this site (e.g., stylesheets and images) from people who appear to be abusing them, and I feel bad doing that with no explanation whatsoever.

Want to see the finished products? Here they are:
404 replacement
403 replacement (for forbidden access)

As the site grows, I’ll be looking closely at my error logs to see how people arrive at these pages and I’ll revise them in accord with that analysis. Hopefully, it’ll make for a better user experience for everyone. Huzzah!
