Hrm
January 19, 2004 – 11:42 pmCouple of things went on this weekend - I started working seriously on the codebase for the new Prydain Guide and Atlas systems, I finished Chris Crawford’s The Art of Interactive Design, and I spent way too much time in a bit of a funk.
Of these, the only one I’ll go into at this point is Crawford’s book. Having just finished Don Norman’s The Design of Everyday Things, I’ve got to say I was a little disappointed on the whole. While I was able to draw some interesting things out of the more technical aspects of the discussion, the many digressions into (somehwat questionable) philosophy, history, and biology detracted from the project more than they added (in my opinion, of course). The book could’ve benefited from one more run-through by a hard-nosed editor, I think…
