And the countdown’s a-runnin’ - less than fifteen minutes to kickoff!

Gearing Up

There are two types of scenes in your typical action-adventure movie that I really get a kick out of: training, and equipping. You know the ones - training’s where the protagonist finds some aged mentor to lead them into the mysteries of whatever pursuit they’re engaged in. Equipping scenes are usually filled with brief cuts - show a boot being pulled on, then a mask settled into place, then a weapon stowed away, etc. I’ve always wanted to be a part of one of those scenes - either to be trained or to equip myself for the hard road ahead. Now that NaNoWriMo’s almost upon us, I feel the need more strongly.

[dramatic music]
shot of laptop going into carrying bag
shot of pencil being sharpened
shot of hands removing the jaggies left behind when you pull paper out of a spiral-bound notebook
etc.

There. Now I’m ready. Bring it on, NaNo!

Whew!

Well’s it been a while, hasn’t it? Got back from the wedding late Sunday (nice wedding, upstate NY is gorgeous, long bus rides aren’t so fun, long waits for planes also not so fun, Harry & David chocolates much fun) and have been swamped at work and at home ever since.

Just ran across the Gematriculator at Easter Lemming, which gave propter hoc this result:

Brief break coming up

Heading to a wedding in upstate NY this afternoon; dunno about internet access at the hotel, so I probably won’t be posting much until we get back. Have a great weekend!

Oh dear lord

Will wonders never cease? Amazon’s indexing the FULL TEXT of their books - and they’re making it searchable. There goes my budget for - well, basically ever.
