Just finished my first IA seminar - Lou Rosenfeld’s Enterprise Information Architecture. It was pretty impressive, with lots of things I can take back to the office. More interestingly, there was quite a bit that is relevant to the I-Connect effort at Nextel. Charles wants to bring me in to the I-Connect group he’s a member of. Should have something entertaining to write about that at some point in the future.

Seminar #1
Wednesday, April 30th, 2003And done!
Tuesday, April 29th, 2003So it’s done - Lacie and I have a house! We’re moving in on June 1st, and I can’t wait. It’s a three bedroom/two bathroom one-level house with a great yard, lovely deck, and a strange, mirror-covered fridge. (We’re thinking that last part will be covered with some nice fabric)
Hurray!
Social Volleyballer
Monday, April 28th, 2003Played in the first Milkshakes tournament of the year yesterday - Blind Date. The weather was gorgeous; despite the heavy rains on Friday and Saturday, the field was almost completely dry by the time my partner Sharon and I played our first match (we were team 5). Got a fair bit of sun, and had my worst tournament ever at 0-8, -64 or so point differential. Also had a great time, seeing people I’ve missed over the winter and meeting new ones. All in all, it was a fantastic beginning to the season.
House-hunting
Monday, April 28th, 2003So Lacie and I have been looking for a place to live for a few weeks now - checking the paper, driving candidate neighborhoods while peering intently at any rental-sign shaped objects on the side of the road, that sort of thing. We had found a beautiful three-level townhouse, but it was too expensive. We found a cute three bedroom cottage walking distance from a metro station, but it was available too late (I have to be out of my apartment by June 8th, and it wasn’t open until the 30th). Finally, we saw on Saturday a nice little house (three bedrooms, two baths) in a lovely neighborhood about five or ten minutes’ drive from the nearest metro station. Lacie handed in our application yesterday (despite some mild, stress-induced reservations), and I’m going to call the landlord today to see how the processing goes. I can’t wait to move!
