Sap

That’s right, a sap. I registered the domain turrean.com with Domainsarefree.com - but it turns out that THAT company no longer exists. The name is now owned by Globat.

Globat apparently still allows registrations through Domainsarefree, but they don’t update (or something) the user records for sites that are not hosted by Globat. So the shiny new domain name I bought can’t be properly administered until I transfer it to a new registrar (after 60 or more days at the old one). Argh.

To overcome this obstacle, I just registered another name - culann.com. In Irish mythology, Culann was the smith whose dog Setanta killed. In penance for his act, Setanta served as Culann’s watchdog every night for a year, earning him the new name of Cu Chulainn, the Hound of Culann. Cu Chulainn went on to become one of the greatest heroes of Irish myth.

Hopefully this name’ll work out better than the previous one did.

(incidentally - I left the various company names involved in this story unlinked intentionally. I’m not going to directly provide them traffic after my sorry treatment at their hands)
